About Me

 My Name is Annette Ott I live South of Lansing, I am married and have 2 children. This is my second semester at SCTC and working on NAS degree. I like SCTC because of the size of the classes, and the program that is offered.  I love learning about the Native Culture and sharing my knowledge with my family. My hope is that my experiences and journey at SCTC will encourage my grandchildren to embrace their culture and tap into their creative interests.

 Blog #5 Tradition Art Revitalization It's very important to revitalize culture in any form rather it's through art, music, storytelling and to keep tradition alive. Through these arts we can continue to keep the story alive, along with the tradition we must incorporate the contemporary, through digital, social media and language.  Some of the barrier is that we need to tap into our elders and spend time to learn the stories and the art. Encourage more schools, colleges to incorporate Native Arts, share websites, YouTube all of the media platforms. Make people aware the Natives people are alive and thieving, awareness the changes need to take place and it starts within us.
